Jun 15, 2008 - Gould plays early music with such a sensitivity to its simplicity and beauty -- you can really tell how much he loved this under-appreciated musical period.

Jul 1, 2008 - I used to think Bach was the best (for me) until I heard Gibbons. Out of the Deep is wonderful.

Jul 4, 2008 - Glen Gould was one asked who he thought was the greatest keyboard of all and without hesitating answered, "Orlando Gibbons."

Jul 7, 2008 - The older I get the more problems I have listening to pre-romantic music on a grand piano. A harpsichord is what this piece is begging for.

Jul 11, 2008 - What it needs is a grand piano in a historically accurate temperament. Equal temperament is kind of an anachronism here... I would love to hear this in a more appropriate tuning.

Nov 1, 2008 - yes...there is a cd of his compositions available. i don't believe he actually plays on it but it was recorded under his direction.

Nov 18, 2008 - There's no shortage of fine recordings of Gibbons on harpsichords, in historically-informed style. I love hearing Gould's interpretation, which is very pianoistic and very individual. It's not how I'd play it (especially the sparse, staccato parts, which would very empty on a harpsichord), but it's still beautiful.
