Nov 28, 2008 - Does the Veyron driver run around in max power mode all the time? I don't think so. To go from 600 hp, which is the normal power output, to 1000 hp, a key needs to be inserted in a a lock near the right headlight. The car lowers and the rear spoiler moves up. The Veyron is unlikely to be in max power mode just cruising down the freeway. If all that performance is used then the tank would run dry in under 20 minutes. I doubt the rider and driver knew each other and it was just a chance encounter.

Nov 28, 2008 - The video is inconclusive. The Veyron wasn't running side by side with the Yamaha in a roll-on contest. Yamaha R1 was accelerating hard then the Veyron passed and pulled 200 meters ahead. The Veyron may have been coming from behind at high speed. The rider sees it in the mirrors and goes harder but the car has got the jump. There are a number of credible tests that demonstrate 1L+ sports bike will beat Veyron over 1/4 mile by up to a second. Top speed? Veyron of course by big margin.

Nov 28, 2008 - Wrong wrong wrong.The key is to be inserted besides the drivers seat. It ALWAYS has 1,000 horsepower. The car can only reach its top speed when they insert the key in to the the place besides the drivers seat. fail.

Nov 30, 2008 - I know you posted this a year ago but I must correct your misinformation. An R1 will certainly beat a Veyron in a 1/4 mile race given an experienced rider. Check out Motorcyclistonline for all the tested 1/4 mile times. A stock R1 has been tested at 9.76The official time for the Veyron is 10.6 but the best time recorded by others is 10.2. All Japanese stock Superbikes are between 9.6 and 9.9. The best time around Nurburgring 7m 19s by slightly modded stock Suzuki and by Veyron, 7m 40s.
