Aug 22, 2008 - The first and second albums I ever bought both featured Little Walter and they're still a gas to listen to. Search YouTube for Paul Oscher, if you're interested in hearing the man who's Walter's righteous heir.

Oct 4, 2008 - i play harp but I'd like to know what kind of harp he plays. it's bigger than the marineband and other similar varieties. anyone know if they still make the one he played or what kind?

redibeaver Says:

Oct 6, 2008 - Hohner and Koch were the only brands in those days. The big one is a Marine Band 364 14 hole, but most of his tunes are done on 10 hole Marine Bands. Some of his tone had to do with the cheap amps/speakers he used and the recording devices/mics. He used to play "down the hall" with the mic at the other end for the reverb. Can't replicate that sound (tube not solid state) but you can try! A lot of boys have but few come close. Rick Estrin, Rod Piazza, James Harman, Magic Dick.

checker764 Says:

Oct 7, 2008 - On the vast majority of his recordings he played a Hohner Marine Band. Occasionally he also played a larger Hohner 64 Chromonica. Both of these are still available today.

Oct 17, 2008 - Does Clapton say he was very crude? If so, it is a completely idiotic statement.Little Walter played some of the most searing, powerful music in the modern era and was unquestionably one of the very finest instrumentalists.

Home

bucolicjones Says:

Oct 23, 2008 - Miles Davis told Marshall Chess that he thought Little Walter was one of the greatest musical geniuses of his time. Wonder what Davis thought of Clapton? ;)

Nov 19, 2008 - i love him some of his songs put chills down my spine if there is any musician that does that to you you must belive in the music that you are listerning two

tonzer101 Says:

Nov 25, 2008 - I agree. Clapton pissed me off by saying that. Little walter is further into the blues than he'll ever be. Mabye you have to spend a little more time in this country and pay a little attention .

Home

tmmmviii Says:

Nov 26, 2008 - Maybe he just picked the wrong word - we all say the wrong thing at times. The thing is that it is so inaccurate. Little Walter was not only brilliant in his phrasing but he was getting a very advanced sound for that period - using distortion, etc.
