Feb 28, 2008 - how the hell does he get that tone. like when he strums the chord on ~03:27 and picks up the whammybar, it just sounds like heaven. that glassy, clean, transparent sound. the tone all the way is definately one the best i've ever heardvery interesting to see him explain his approaches too, he explains things in a very clear way, it's like i can understand his thinking rightway. definately going to get all his videos

Mar 13, 2008 - Since he's barring most of the strings, he's using the index finger of his right hand to sound harmonics on each string as he strums it. It's a trick he uses a lot.

Jul 28, 2008 - That lick at 2:38 sounds a lot like the melody from Bright Side Life by Pat Metheny. Anywho, Carl is a sick player. Thanks for uploading.

Aug 15, 2008 - His phrasing really reminds me of Eric Johnson- that's a huge complement!
Modes9 Says:
Aug 25, 2008 - All of those fourths and fifths are like Joe Diorio's Intervallic Designs for the 21st Century.

Oct 27, 2008 - do you think fingerings of the scale is needed for this kind of playing?

Nov 6, 2008 - 2:38 sounds like bright size life by the master metheny!! LOL anyway I love his playing!!
blahman178 Says:
Nov 26, 2008 - it's less of a box sclae type thing as it is knowing the notes on the guitar and how they relate to each other, so that you can freely move around the neck and stay in the key (in this case F#m)
