Europe Gross Domestic Product -GDP- augmented by 0.4% in the euro zone (EA16) and by 0.2% in the Europe 27 during the third quarter of 2009, compared with the previous quarter, according to flash estimates published by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In the second quarter of 2009, progress rates were -0.2% in the euro zone and -0.3% in the EU27.

When compared with the same quarter of the preceding year, seasonally adjusted Gross Domestic Product -GDP- decreased by 4.1% in the euro area and by 4.3% in the Europe 27 in the third quarter of 2009, after -4.8% and -4.9% respectively in the preceding quarter.

All through the third quarter of this year, US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- increased by 0.9% when compared with the preceding quarter, after -0.2% in the second quarter. US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- reduced by 2.3% in comparisonwith the same quarter of the preceding year (-3.8% in the preceding quarter).
