Lung cancer is the large number often lethal cancer in the United States. Amid all causes of casuality , lung cancer ranks second after heart disease especially for males, and third after heart and cerebrovascular disease for females. Since 2002 alone, bigger than 150,000 people in the United States died of lung cancer.
lung cancer is a serious health problem affecting both men and women. It is the largest cause of cancer related deaths in men and is the second cause of cancer related deaths in women. Lung cancer is a disease caused by uncontrolled cell growth in the lungs. Smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer, accountable for about 87% of all lung cancer cases diagnosed. Surprisingly, lung cancer is often diagnosed after the patients goes in thinking they have pneumonia.
There are also many non-specific symptoms of lung cancer as well. Being one of the most common forms of cancer, it is incredibly important for us to be informed of the many lung cancer symptoms.
The American Cancer Society states that women are 1.5 times more likely to get lung cancer than men. While smokers is a leading cause of lung cancer to smokers, secondhand smoke also causes lung cancer and coronary heart disease to nonsmokers. There are about 20% of the women diagnosed with lung cancer who have never smoked (American Cancer Society). There are non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. The American Cancer Society states that in the last 30 years, the cure rate for lung cancer has doubled.
Lung cancer is the result of malignant cells forming in the tissues of the lung, usually in the cells lining the air passages. Cancer of the lungs is one of the deadliest forms of cancer. There are two primary forms of lung cancer – Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) and Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). Small Cell Lung Cancer is less common, though far more deadly. Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, on the other hand, is far more common, accounting for nearly 80% of all diagnosed lung cancers. Treatment for this form of lung cancer often leads to a more successful outcome than that of other lung cancers.
Large-Cell Undifferentiated Carcinoma: accounting for only 10% – 15% of lung cancers, this form may show up in any area of the lung. It’s also possible for lung cancer to be a combination of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer types.
There are other, less common types of lung cancer. Carcinoid tumors account for approximately 5% of lung tumors. Finally, some cancers discovered in the lungs aren’t lung cancers at all In 2004 lung cancer killed more people than breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer combined. Lung cancer accounts for 31% of all deaths from cancer, and 90% of these could have been prevented if people had not smoked cigarettes or other products containing nicotine and tar. The American Cancer Society and the CDC estimates that in 2008 over 215,020 new cases of lung cancer will exist. Lung cancer is the second biggest killer among people. And in 2008 out of 745,180 men tested, 15% have lung cancer and out of 692,000 women tested, 14% lung have some form of cancer. Nicotine is highly addictive, smoke containing nicotine is inhaled into the lungs, and the nicotine reaches your brain just six seconds. Filters don’t work. Chemicals are added to cigarettes to make the cigarettes taste blander.

I hope if dogs ever take over the world, and they chose a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas...
